The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) released an online visualization mapping tool that allows users to explore coastal hazard risks at varying scales, from local areas to a national perspective. The tool, the USGS Coastal Change Hazards Portal provides downloadable historical information about extreme storms, shoreline change rates and sea level rise.

The tool is an interactive map, which runs on web browsers, tablets and smartphones. It allows users to enter location data in several formats based on the name, zoom in and view potential impacts of extreme storms, historic shoreline changes and coastal vulnerability to sea-level rise.
