Congress is expected to continue working through FY17 appropriations legislation this week, with the Senate likely to complete work on a Commerce, Justice and Science spending measure that includes research funds for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Votes are also planned on a series of amendments to restrict gun purchases by individuals on federal terrorism watch lists and no-fly lists.

The House is scheduled to consider its FY17 financial services appropriations bill this week.  Also up for a vote is legislation to reverse the Chevron doctrine, which requires a court to generally defer to a federal agency’s interpretation of a statute when congressional intent behind the statute is “silent or ambiguous” on the question at hand.
