On May 20, the White House released an assessment document on the national security implications of climate change. The document compiles information from several other federal reports on climate change, including the 2015 National Security Strategy and the 2014 National Climate Assessment. The National Security Implications of a Changing Climate summarizes the implications of climate change on domestic and international security and the subsequent demands on military installations and personnel. According to the White House press release announcing the report, “no challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change, as we are already seeing these threats in communities across the country.” The report was released in conjunction with the President’s commencement address at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
