AMWA record statement on liability for PFAS cleanups under CERCLA

AMWA submitted this statement for the record of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee's March 20, 2024 hearing on "Examining PFAS as a Hazardous Substance." The association asked Congress to approve legislation to protect drinking water systems from incurring liability under CERCLA for the cost of environmental site cleanups of PFAS, following their proper disposal after being removed during the drinking water treatment process.
