The Water Sector Coordinating Council (WSCC) last week elected a new chair and vice chair. Charles Hilton, General Manager, Breezy Hill Water and Sewer Co. in South Carolina, was elected chair, and Patty Cleveland, with Trinity River Authority in Texas, is the new vice chair.
The WSCC comprises several water and wastewater utility managers appointed by the national industry associations and research foundations. The council is the water sector’s principal mechanism for communicating utility input on federal homeland security and emergency response resources and programs. The WSCC regularly interfaces with its government counterpart – the Government Coordinating Council, comprising representatives from U.S. EPA, Department of Homeland Security, state drinking water administrators and other federal agencies. Most of the nation’s critical infrastructure sectors have their own sector coordinating councils and government counterparts.
WaterISAC is the official communications and operational arm of the water sector, as designated by the WSCC.
