Secretary of Energy Steven Chu announced a group of environmental, industry and state regulatory experts charged with recommending best practices for hydraulic fracturing. DOE said that by August 5, the group of seven advisers will identify any immediate steps that can be taken to improve the practice and by November, the group will “develop consensus recommendations for state regulatory agencies on best practices in the industry.”
