EPA announced in the February 15 Federal Register (76 FR 8674) that it will hold a public meeting on March 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Washington, D.C. to discuss environmental justice considerations related to several upcoming drinking water regulatory efforts, including the Lead and Copper Rule, perchlorate and carcinogenic VOCs. Individuals interested in attending the meeting in person or via teleconference must register in advance by contacting Junie Percy at (937) 427-4148, ext. 210 or by sending an e-mail to[email protected] no later than Friday, February 28, 2011. EPA’s contractor will send a confirmation e-mail to registrants including the meeting location or call-in information.
As described in the FR notice, “environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies. EPA is holding this meeting to provide information to communities and an opportunity for communities to provide input on the LCR, Regulatory Determinations 3, perchlorate, and carcinogenic VOCs rulemaking efforts.”
