There is still time to reserve your place at the year’s most informative gathering of drinking water utility executives, as the preferred hotel conference rate for AMWA’s 2014 Water Policy Conference has been extended until this Friday, March 21.
Taking place in Washington, DC from April 6–9, the Water Policy Conference will offer utility managers the year’s best chance to hear directly from federal policymakers, thought leaders and analysts about the top issues facing the water sector and the nation at large.
New additions to the conference program include Tom Kozlik, Director and Municipal Credit Analyst at Janney Montgomery Scott and Technical Advisory Committee Vice Chair at the advocacy group Municipal Bonds for America. He will join Eric Hoffmann, Senior Vice President at Moody’s Investors Service to brief attendees on the state of the municipal bond market and explain the potential ramifications of proposals to scale back federal tax incentives for municipal bond interest.
Respected Political Analyst Charlie Cook will lead off the conference with a look at the two major themes likely to clash during this fall’s midterm elections: the Republican party’s continuing “brand” problems among women, minorities, and the young, and a growing case of “Obama fatigue” among voters.
Also recently added to the program is House Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee Chairman Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) – who is also a leading proponent of the proposed “Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act” (WIFIA). Gibbs will join a slate of other leading lawmakers – including both chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate subcommittees with Safe Drinking Water Act oversight – to preview the congressional agenda for the year ahead.
