Washington, D.C. – The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), dedicated to the unique needs of the country’s largest publicly owned drinking water systems serving populations of over 100,000, is pleased to announce the release of its comprehensive strategic plan for 2023-2025. The blueprint, approved by the AMWA Board of Directors during its 2023 Executive Management Conference, outlines the association's key objectives for the next two years.
As environmental and other factors increasingly threaten the nation’s scarce drinking water supply, AMWA remains committed to its members’ efforts to ensure safe, secure, and affordable drinking water for all. In this vein, AMWA will continue to advocate broadly on behalf of the water sector; however, the association’s focus remains on improving advocacy efforts and enhancing programmatic offerings for its members, the largest drinking water utilities in the country.
"This strategic plan marks a pivotal moment for AMWA, reflecting our unwavering commitment to our members and the future of the water sector," stated AMWA CEO Tom Dobbins. "We are dedicated to advancing advocacy, fostering knowledge sharing, and fortifying our organizational capabilities to drive impactful change within the sector."
The strategic plan centers on the following key pillars:
Enhanced Advocacy:
The association is committed to cementing its position as the foremost legislative and regulatory advocacy organization within the drinking water sector. The association aims to bolster its efficiency and effectiveness in driving crucial legislative and regulatory measures by fortifying its advocacy initiatives.
Upgrade Knowledge Sharing:
As part of its commitment to fostering innovation and excellence, AMWA is elevating its knowledge sharing offerings. The strategic plan emphasizes the augmentation and enhancement of knowledge sharing platforms to provide high engagement and robust performances, ensuring an enriched value proposition for its members.
