Covid-19 report

This April 2020 report from AMWA and the American Water Works Association estimates the revenue impacts on the nation's drinking water systems due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The estimate takes into account the cost of shutoff moratoriums, increased customer delinquencies, changes to residential and commercial usage, shifting personnel expenses, and reduced system development charges and customer growth. In sum, it estimated an annualized reduction in drinking water system revenues across the country to total $13.9 billion. Additionally, delayed and reduced capital expenditures by drinking water systems could lead to a reduction in overall economic activity by as much as $32.7 billion, at a cost of up to 90,000 private sector jobs.
