AMWA and AWWA Joint Request for Extension for EPA's proposed Fourth Regulatory Determination

AMWA and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) submitted a request for extension March 17 in response to EPA’s proposed Fourth Regulatory Determination. In the proposal, which was announced February 20, EPA announced its intention to regulate both PFOA and PFOS, two of the most widely studied per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). A positive regulatory determination would kick off a process that would eventually lead to either a maximum contaminant level or treatment technique for each substance.
