Over the past couple of years, AMWA and the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) have worked together to increase the dialogue on protecting sources of drinking water via the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The two associations have submitted comments on numerous Significant New Use Rules (SNURs) and chemical risk evaluations while having several conversations with staff from EPA's Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP). The associations sent OCSPP leadership a joint letter outlining hopes to expand this dialogue and work more closely with OCSPP staff to protect drinking water sources. The letter details AMWA and ASDWA's ongoing concerns and offers potential solutions to the problems that drinking water systems and state programs are facing.
