CDM Smith: PFAS webinar

As EPA released the final National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) for six PFAS (PFOS, PFOA, PFNA, PFBS, PFHxS, and GenX) on April 10, the countdown has begun for drinking water utilities to comply with these regulations and, in many cases, implement major programs to treat PFAS in their water supply. While several states have previously established limits for PFAS in drinking water, many utilities have already started or completed PFAS compliance programs. The draft Federal regulations, however, are significantly lower than most current state standards, and even utilities with PFAS compliance plans in place may need to expand their programs.

What can drinking water utilities learn from those who have been through the process, and how can the industry cost-effectively comply with the new regulations given the limited funds available?

In order to assist systems with these issues, AMWA and CDM Smith will host a timely webinar, "Breaking Down PFAS: Complying with the NEW PFAS Regulations," on Wednesday, May 15, at 3:00 p.m. ET, to discuss lessons learned and best practices.

Agenda

During the presentation, CDM Smith Water Services Group Leader Susan Crawford will break down the Final Rule, including changes from the Draft Rule, step through compliance options, highlight issues to consider before implementation, provide best practices for communication on PFAS with the public, and moderate an informative discussion with speakers:

  • Mark White, Drinking Water Practice Leader, CDM Smith;
  • Jamie Bain Hedges, General Manager, Fairfax Water;
  • Jamie Revels, Utility Director, Town of Cary North Carolina; and
  • Gina Ayala, Director of Public Affairs, Orange County Water District.

Following their discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers during the Q&A session.
